Zepbound is the new weight loss drug that has FDA approval for chronic weight management and is a GLP-1 receptor agonists.

There are 3 Zepbound injection sites:

• Stomach by belly button
• Thigh
• Back of your upper arm

Proper Injection Technique: Remove the Zepbound injection pen from the carton for your dose of Zepbound. Take off the gray base cap. Twist the unlocking system.

When injecting, push the purple injection button and you will hear the first click. Hold the gray plunger for up to 10 seconds and you will hear a second click. You can remove the pen from your skin. Zepbound injections are subcutaneous injections.

You may see left over medication from the single-dose pen. You skin may or may not have blood. This is all normal for your weekly injections.

Recommended starting dosage of Zepbound is Zepbound 2.5mg. When you think you want to titrate up doses, talk to your healthcare provider to make an informed decision about next steps for your Zepbound treatment dose. The active ingredient tirzepatide with brand name Mounjaro and Zepbound.

Injection Sites For Zepbound

Eli Lilly is the manufacturer of Mounjaro. Eli Lilly’s literature for Zepbound states that injections should rotate on the three best injection sites for Zepbound pen.

For the first month and a half, I simply injected only into my stomach and rotated stomach locations.

If it is/was working, I did NOT want to add too many variables by changing injection location.

It took me months to learn where the best possible results were for maximum appetite suppression.

My Zepbound injection site / Mounjaro injection rotation schedule I use:

1. Left side of belly button on the stomach
2. Left upper arm on the back of the arm
3. Left thigh
4. Right injection site of stomach injection sites
5. Right back of arm
6. Right thigh

And with the 6 injection sites rotation, I would then start over.

Then, I started to incorporate using top, bottom, left right for a specific side and ended up getting 24 injection sites!

1. TOP: Left side of belly button on the stomach
2. TOP:Left back of arm

4. TOP: Right side of belly button on the stomach
5. TOP: Right back of arm
6. TOP: Right thigh
7. BOTTOM: Left side of belly button on the stomach

11. BOTTOM: Right back of arm
12. BOTTOM: Right thigh

Best Time Of Day To Take Zepbound

Zepbound Stomach Injection

For all Zepbound injections, always use the diagram in the Zepbound packaging for where to specifically inject on your body.

When I started taking Mounjaro 2.5mg, I initially only did my Zepbound/Mounjaro injection in my stomach by my belly button.

I continued the Mounjaro/ Zepbound injection in my stomach by my belly button for weeks too afraid to rotate to my arm or thigh.

After several months, I got the courage to try injecting Mounjaro into thigh.

Injecting Zepbound In Thigh

Injecting Mounjaro in thigh was not painful for me at all. In fact, I questioned why I had waited so long to inject Mounjaro into my thigh.

I do notice I have side effects when I rotate locations. And Mounjaro side effect I didn’t necessarily have before, I did when I rotated locations.

Zepbound Arm Injection

Another person is going to inject your Zepbound arm injection since the injection is the upper, back part of your arm.

When the Count gives my arm injection, I countdown “3,2,1…go” and then he pushes the Mounjaro / Zepbound pen plunger.

The Zepbound pen makes two clicking sounds.

I count for twenty seconds to remove the Zepbound  pen off my skin.

Most Common Side Effects Of Zepbound

Here are the most common Zepbound side effects. Of course everyone can experience different side effects.

Personally, just because I had one Mounjaro / Zepbound side effect at one dose didn’t mean I was going to have it for all doses.

• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Decreased appetite
• Vomiting
• Constipation
• Indigestion
• Stomach Pain

Always talk with your doctor if you are having a common side effect, symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, abdominal pain or if your family has a history or thyroid cancer.

And the inverse for me is true too. Just because I didn’t experience one side effect on one dose didn’t mean I didn’t have that side effect at a higher dose when I titrated up.

Zepbound Nausea

• Eat bland diet like crackers or toast
• Get fresh air
• Eat foods that contain water like gelantin or soups
• Avoid greasy foods
• Avoid sugary foods
• Avoid laying down after you eat
• Eat slowly
• Drink clear drinks
• Drink ice cold drinks
