I have traveled extensively in the US with GLP-1 pens. Having been on a GLP-1 journey with for over two years, I have several travel Wegovy hacks.

How To Travel With Wegovy Pen

Before diving into travel case options, it’s important to understand Wegovy’s storage requirements. This medication must be stored in a refrigerator between 36°F and 46°F (2°C to 8°C) before its first use. After that, once opened, Wegovy pens can be stored at room temperature, typically up to 86°F (30°C), or kept refrigerated.

Ensuring that the medication remains within the right temperature range is critical, as exposure to extreme temperatures—whether excessive heat or freezing cold—can render the medication ineffective. This means that whether you’re traveling to a hot climate or a cold one, choosing a travel case that maintains temperature control is essential.

How To Fly With Wegovy

I put my pens in my travel carry-on bag underneath my feet so I don’t have to worry about other flying passengers bashing my valuable pen with any hard surface bags.

When I pack medications as always, I plan to keep my prescription drugs with me on the flight. I do also pack my box that has my actual prescription label on to take with me too.

Is this necessary? I choose to bring my prescription labeled box just in case for additional screening from a TSA officer.

One week out from travel, test case to make sure no freezing potential.
One week out – if you have multiple pens, figure out how you are going to keep 2nd pen cold during your trip (continuously freezing ice packs or pen)?

Day of travel – put pen(s) into Wegovy pen travel case.

Traveling With Wegovy

Traveling with Wegovy can be easy. Plan out bringing your pens and having supplies for potential side effects of Wegovy.

With my extensive travel days, I will make sure to plan around shot day my activities within 24-48 hours after my shot. By design, I do not intentionally have rigorous activities those days if I can help it.

Disposal: I put the pens back into my Wegovy cooler and will dispose of them in my sharps container when I return home.
