Wegovy Dosing: What Is Semaglutide Dosage Weight Loss
There are 5 Wegovy doses:
- .25 mg (Starting dose)
- .5 mg dose
- 1 mg dose
- 1.7 mg dose
- 2.4mg (Maximum dose)
Wegovy Starting Dose
First Month: The beginning Wegovy dose is Wegovy .25mg. You take one Wegovy pen for .25mg your first week for once-weekly dosage. When you first start, you will be prescribed Wegovy .25mg with a four, Wegovy .25mg in a box.
Wegovy Dosage
Second Month: You can titrate up after 4 weeks to the next level of Wegovy dosage to Wegovy .5 mg for a weekly dose.
Or, you remain at Wegovy .25mg for another 4 weeks. You can do a gradual increase or remain at same level.
Each Wegovy dose is in increments of 4 weeks as 4 pens come in each Wegovy box. You use one injection pen per week.
Do not have a missed dose of your Wegovy treatment. If you do miss your next scheduled dose, talk with your healthcare provider.

Your healthcare professionals and you will determine when to titrate up to the next dose.
It is not a race to get to Wegovy 2.4mg. Slow and steady wins the race.
The starting dose is Wegovy .25 mg. The highest dose is Wegovy 2.4mg. And the doses stairstep up.
Once you get to maintenance dose of Wegovy, you and your healthcare professional will determine your maintenance dosage for your prescription medication.

When do you titrate up for Wegovy dosing for weight loss?
Having lost -67lbs from a GLP-1 (so far!), my medical professional told me when the food chatter came back would be when we have a discussion about titrating up to the next Wegovy dose.
For me, food chatter, food noise, food obsession is a clear indicator and mean increases to titrate up to the next dose.
The brain changes and fullness feeling on a GLP-1 is like nothing I have ever had in my life, truly.
Talk with your health care provider about rapid weight loss and degree of weight loss with use of Wegovy.
Most Common Side Effects Of Wegovy
Wegovy’s manufacturer is Novo Nordisk.
For me with GLP-1 receptor agonist, just because I had one side effect on one dose didn’t mean I would not have another side effect on a different dose. Different dose strengths may have different side effects for you. At a lower dose, I still had different side effects, but people have different experience.
The most common side effects of Wegovy are:
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Constipation
- Stomach (abdomen) pain
- Headache
- Tiredness (fatigue)
- Upset stomach
- Dizziness
- Feeling bloated
- Belching
- Gas
- Stomach flu
- Heartburn
- Runny nose or sore throat.

Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects per Wegovy.com:
- “Possible thyroid tumors, including cancer. Tell your healthcare provider if you get a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath. These may be symptoms of thyroid cancer. In studies with rodents, Wegovy® and medicines that work like Wegovy® caused thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer. It is not known if Wegovy® will cause thyroid tumors or a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in people
- Do not use Wegovy® if you or any of your family have ever had a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or if you have an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
Do not use Wegovy® if:
- you or any of your family have ever had a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or if you have an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
- you have had a serious allergic reaction to semaglutide or any of the ingredients in Wegovy®“

Max Dose Of Wegovy
The max dose of Wegovy is 2.4mg.
There are several GLP-1 drugs in clinicals trials that are higher doses from Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Mounjaro, and other companies like Novo Nordisk who manufacturers Wegovy. None of these GLP-1 injectables have been FDA approved yet for higher doses.
