Jump to RecipeI love quick, healthy, simple recipe with my busy schedule and a healthy snack or dinner side option. You eat for a salty snack craving, add to buddha bowls, add to grain bowls, on top of your favorite salad or a great healthy snack to tide you over to dinner since it is so high in protein!
You can choose oven-roasted chickpeas instead of potato chips!
In addition to being crispy and with the great flavor, this recipe is only 146 calories for 1/4 cup of crispy chickpeas. It is a great way to get protein in with 10 grams of protein in every 1/4 cup!
The best part is you can make extra for leftovers for a crunchy snack. This nutritious crunchy chickpeas snack or dinner side dish is a great option for busy schedules. It will keep up to 3 days in an airtight container in the fridge.

I love using a can of chickpeas because it is so easy and fast. However, you could make this recipe from dried chickpeas by soaking in water.
Roasted Chickpeas Recipe
Another option for making the perfect healthy snack is air fryer chickpeas. I find using the oven with a simple baking tray is so much faster…particularly if I have to make a savory snack last minute.
Feel free to add other favorite spices and herbs for your favorite flavors for the five star rating recipe to this easy chickpea recipe. You could add instead to make different ways to this easy recipe:
- Chili powder
- Avocado oil instead of extra-virgin olive oil
- More garlic powder if you want extra garlic seasoning
- More black pepper if you want really peppery
- Lemon Zest
- Maple Syrup
- Brown Sugar
- Cajun Seasoning
Extra Crispiness: Make sure you have space in between the chickpeas for ultimate crispiness results with a single layer and even layer (not stacked on top of each other). The extra space on your large baking sheet pan will make the garbanzo beans more crispy with this delicious recipe.
If the chickpeas are too close together, it will be more mushy because it’s steaming. The extra space on your sheet pan will make the garbanzo beans more crispy.

Best Way To Get Crispy Texture: Make sure to dry excess moisture on layers of paper towels, clean dish towel or a clean kitchen towel before putting chickpeas onto parchment paper. After rinsing, you will want dry chickpeas and not have much moisture. Make sure any towels are lint-free kitchen towel…no lint on the chickpeas!
Oven Temperatures: Ovens vary, so make sure to peek on chickpeas at the 19 minute mark to see if they need more cooking time for your new favorite snack.

Ovens Vary: If your cooked green beans are not crispy enough, simply bake in the oven for another 5-15 minutes since ovens vary.
For best results, you can broil for a minute right before taking out for extra crisp. Be mindful of burning your parchment paper like I did.
